Tech Talk: What's Included in the Latest Aventon Technology Update

The latest Aventon Over-the-Air update rolled out in May 2026 for selected models, bringing new convenience features, expanded ride data and additional customization options designed to make the riding experience even more intuitive.

From automatic lighting functions and customizable Auto Mode settings to deeper fitness data and connected cockpit controls, the update expands how riders interact with their eBike before, during and after the ride.

At the center of the update is our ACU (Aventon Control Unit) technology.

ACU is designed to support ongoing Over-the-Air updates. ACU-compatible eBikes can receive new features, ride refinements and system updates long after the first ride. Because the app, firmware and motor systems are developed in-house, these updates can be delivered directly through the Aventon app without replacing hardware or scheduling major service appointments.

Here is a closer look at what is included in the latest update and how the new features work on the eBike.

Aventon cockpit controls

Smarter Cockpit Controls for Current

For the Aventon Current family, the update adds new connected features that make the cockpit even more versatile. Compatible GoPro and DJI action cameras can be connected directly to the eBike via Bluetooth.

Once the camera is connected, videos or photos can be started directly from the handlebar control unit. This makes it easier to capture rides, trails and special moments without reaching for the camera while riding.

Current also supports compatible Bluetooth heart rate sensors. Riders who train with heart rate zones or want to track their effort more closely can make key data visible directly in the eBike system.

The result: more control, more insight and a cockpit that works better with your own riding style.

More Fitness Data and Deeper Ride Insights

The most data-focused feature of the update is expanded fitness metrics for compatible mid-drive models from the Current and Trava families.

Depending on the model, the following values may be displayed:

  • average cadence
  • rider power
  • rider torque
  • motor power
  • motor torque
  • left-right power balance

These data points help riders better understand the relationship between their own effort and motor assistance. Especially on longer rides, climbs or training sessions, this can provide valuable insight.

What makes this especially useful is that it does not only show rider output. The motor’s contribution also becomes visible, creating a clearer picture of how support, cadence and riding behavior work together.

For some riders, it is simply interesting after the ride. For others, it becomes a real tool for training, efficiency and longer tours.

More Customization in Auto Mode

Auto Mode is designed to automatically adjust motor support based on riding behavior and conditions. This means riders do not need to constantly switch between assist levels when the route changes.

With the update, Auto Mode behavior can be personalized even further through Ride Tune settings. Depending on preference, support can engage more directly or more smoothly.

Riders who are often in the city may prefer a quicker response when starting. On longer tours, a softer and more efficient support feel may be more comfortable.

This makes the eBike feel even more closely matched to your own riding style.

Automatic Lighting and Daytime Running Light

Another focus of the update is visibility and easy everyday use. On compatible Aventon models, the eBike can automatically activate the headlight and rear light when the surroundings become dark enough.

The integrated light sensor detects changing light conditions and switches the lighting on when needed. This is especially practical for evening rides, changing weather, shaded bike paths or commutes with varying light conditions.

In addition, the daytime running light helps keep the eBike more visible during the day when the system is switched on.

More visibility, less manual input — this is exactly how smart eBike technology should work in everyday use.

Over-the-Air Updates and the ACU Platform

The update shows how the Aventon system can continue to evolve over time. ACU-compatible eBikes are not limited to the feature set they have on day one.

Because software, firmware and motor tuning are developed in-house, new features and improvements can be delivered directly through the Aventon app.

This makes the ACU platform an important part of the Aventon riding experience: the eBike can continue to evolve without new hardware or a major workshop appointment.
